Finishing system

Four decisions, one surface.

Travertine offers the fullest set of choices. The cut comes first, because it sets the pattern: vein cut runs in straight lines, cross cut opens into soft, cloud-like movement. Pore, sheen and texture then tune the surface to the way it will be used.

Marble and limestone have no cut or pore to decide, because those belong to travertine alone. They are specified on sheen and texture.

Broader material network

The right material for the project.

Sometimes a project needs a stone beyond our own three. SunMinerals then works through an established sourcing network to find the right marble, travertine, limestone, onyx or other natural material.

We choose on appearance, performance and availability, and always for the place the stone is going.

Which natural stones does SUNMINERALS supply?

Three core stones from two regions: Matka travertine and Sivec marble from North Macedonia, and limestone from Croatia. When a project needs a stone beyond the core collection, such as onyx, SUNMINERALS works through an established sourcing network and selects on appearance, performance, availability and the intended application.

Matka travertineSivec marbleCroatian limestone

What is the difference between marble and travertine?

Travertine forms where mineral springs meet the air, as band after band of calcium carbonate settles, which gives it a layered grain and open pores.

Marble begins as limestone that heat and pressure have recrystallised, so it has depth instead of pattern. Matka travertine is warm and layered, from ivory to walnut, while Sivec marble is a fine-grained white with delicate grey or beige veining.

Matka travertineSivec marble

Which of the stones can be used outdoors?

Matka travertine and Croatian limestone are both supplied for exterior walls, floors and pool capping. Sivec marble is supplied for flooring, cladding, bespoke architectural elements, countertops, and stairs and window sills.

The Technical Data Sheet for each stone covers frost resistance and slip resistance for the specification.

Natural stone applications

What slab thicknesses and sizes are available?

Standard slab thicknesses are 2 cm and 3 cm. Project-specific thicker formats run from 4 cm to 12 cm, and the approximate maximum block processing size is 3.0 × 2.0 × 2.0 m. Final slab dimensions depend on the selected block.

How many finishes are there?

More than 60 across the collection, including honed, aged, polished, sawn cut, rockfaced, sandblasted, bushhammered and tumbled. Cut controls the pattern and finish controls the surface: travertine is specified on cut, pore, sheen and texture, while marble and limestone are specified on sheen and texture.

What is the minimum order?

Orders can begin from one slab, subject to material availability. If the selected material is in factory inventory, shipment can be arranged promptly.

When blocks must be sourced, the programme is confirmed after material, volume, processing and finish requirements have been reviewed. The lead time is confirmed for each specification.

Can I get samples and a Technical Data Sheet before ordering?

Yes. Before production begins, you approve the selected material, finish and appearance. Production then follows those agreed specifications, with blocks and slabs selected and sorted to support consistency.

Technical Data Sheets are available for SUNMINERALS natural stone materials, supporting architectural specification, engineering review and material selection. Laboratory values are presented according to the relevant European EN standards.

How is the stone shipped to Dubai and the rest of the UAE?

SUNMINERALS coordinates final inspection, protective packing and international shipment according to the order and destination. Documentation, shipment planning and delivery schedules are coordinated as part of the order process.

The Port of Thessaloniki in Greece is the primary export gateway for international deliveries. Tell us the destination when you enquire, and the shipment is planned for it.
